Leave early so you won’t get locked in! Tunnel gates close at 6 PM. Hike takes about an hour.

On a EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAR day w/o Sea Mist, it is possible to see parts of 4 of the major islands: Lana`i, Moloka`i + Haleakala & Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea.

Walk to towards the Diamond Head Lighthouse. You'll pass a small garden area along the wall that the local surfers created and maintain themselves.
