The rehabilitation took almost 3 years and cost $125,000. The sign made its fully functioning debut again in April 2013.

The motel itself had seen better days by 2010 when the sign was knocked down and severely damaged in a storm. Luckily local publicity and public adoration caused faithful repair and restoration.
