The Central station, a Beaux-Arts structure designed by noted transit architect Arthur Gerber, is on the south side of Central Street and is entered at street level, with an auxiliary exit on the north side of the street.

Foster station lacks a formal station house; two staircases on the south side of Foster Street lead up to a small area containing a customer assistant's booth, a farecard vending machine, and two turnstiles.

Howard station is the northern terminus of the Red Line and the southeastern terminus of the Yellow Line; it also serves the Purple Line, for which it is the southern terminus outside of weekday rush hours.

The current station has been in place since July 1, 1931, when it replaced the Calvary Cemetery stop to the south, to better serve the developing residential area directly to the north of the cemetery. The station has only seen slight modifications to the since, mostly to lighting and signage.

The Morse station was formerly known as Rogers Park or Morse-Rogers Park. The Rogers Park Metra commuter railroad station is five blocks to the west of Morse station on Lunt Ave.

The original station opened 1912, with a station house designed by Arthur Gerber added in 1913. In 1984, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. A new station was built close to the original in 1993; the original building has since been converted into a bank.

Davis is one of the four test sites for the Active Transit Station Signs (ATSS) program, installed in September 2002. The signs display preprogrammed and service-related messages, however, the Davis station's signs do not display the countdown feature due to a programming glitch.

The current station has been in place since 1908, with only slight modifications to the station since, most notably a 90 foot extension of the platform in 1997 so that a motorman in the front car could see all doors stopped at the station (the platform had curved at one end previously).

The current station has been in place since 1910. The station, after being one of the many stations proposed to be shut down during a 1991 CTA budget crisis but getting a reprieve, is now one of the stations on the CTA's 2004-2008 Capital Improvement Plan.
