You don't need to be fit to climb the steps, but it sure helps. No matter how tough that you find the climb though, your effort will be rewarded! Stunning views.

A wonderful place to relax and unwind with a sandwich from one of the many nearby establishments. I recommend JK Palmers for a superb panini

Definitely worth a visit and the trek to the top. The views are wonderful, of St. Albans (especially the Cathedral) and it's surrounding countryside.

The site of the Eleanor cross which once stood in St Albans lies opposite Waxhouse Gate. In 1290 the funeral procession of Queen Eleanor wife of Edward I rested here on its slow journey to Westminster
