Beautiful location, but they seem uncomfortable on the topic of slavery. Better to fully represent the actual history of this country rather then the glorified fairytale you’ll get here.

A lot depends on which tour guide you get. Incredible home - massive on the outside, compact on the inside. Able to go in but was under renovation when we visited in late January 2019.

Queues are too long to get in. The docents are generally good, but some need to think about their presentation skills, as the started before groups fully arrived or were unintelligible.

The mansion itself is great to walk through. You will see how Washington was so precise about the decoration and the architecture. The land is very big you need time to go and see every spot.

Worth the wait to walk through and see how George Washington lived. Lots of interesting things to see including his entertainment room and bedroom where he died. Talk to the guides for helpful info.

Pay the extra fee for the National Treasure tour, you get to see the basement of the house plus other cool areas and views.

If you plan to walk the grounds have on good walking shoes or sneakers. There are steep inclines down to the wharf that are worth experiencing.

Spirit cruises brought us frm DC to the estate and back. Large, comfortable boat with a decent recorded tour of riverfront sites en route. A very pleasant way to go!
